Le 12 juin 2018, le projet de loi 176 a été adopté, modifiant certaines dispositions de la Loi sur les normes du travail (LNT). Certaines sont en vigueur depuis et d’autres le seront au 1er janvier 2019. La majorité de ces modifications visent une meilleure conciliation travail et vie familiale.

| Les 2 parents peuvent s’absenter 5 jours à l’occasion de la naissance ou de l’adoption d’un enfant, dont 2 jours payés. Ce congé doit être pris dans les 15 jours de l’adoption ou de l’accouchement. Ne s’applique pas à la mère qui est déjà en congé de maternité. | Modifications importantes : La définition de « parent » est élargie : enfant, conjoint, père, mère, frère, sœur, grands-parents du salarié ou de son conjoint, ainsi que les conjoints de ces personnes, leurs enfants ou les conjoints de leurs enfants. Voir aussi les notions liées à « famille d’accueil, tutelle ou curatelle, mandataire ou autre désignés légalement ».
